X and I were probably doomed from the start.

That’s what happens when you meet in court-mandated group therapy and then try to steal from him to pay off your blackmailing drug dealer. Former drug dealer, thank you very much. I’m turning over a new leaf and all that.

Which is why I should leave him alone.

Except he tempts me to do things I swore I’d stop doing. It’s that whole gruff, grumbly, anti-social thing he has going on. Him, flame. Me, moth. Something about him calls to me, makes the blood hum in my body. And I don’t want that feeling to end.

Lucy Connors is straight-up insane.

She looks like a Disney princess and tries my patience in more ways than I thought possible. Besides the fact that I have to save her cute little ass from jail, I can’t quite figure out how to leave her alone. Even when she’s trying her hand at Breaking and Entering. Especially when it’s myhouse she’s burglarizing.

Yeah, we were probably doomed from the start.

But that’s the thing about being hooked on something so good, and so bad for you—you don’t walk away when you should.

Note from the authors:

This book deals with subject matter that is highly improbable, sometimes campy, and definitely illegal. Please don’t use it as a guideline for how to live your life, but enjoy nonetheless.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Hooked is unlike any story I have ever read. Karla and Whitney’s writing blended so seamlessly that you would never know it was written by two separate people.

What do you get when you mix a former drug dealing kleptomaniac and an eccentric billionaire that has a panic attack at the thought of leaving his own home? Hooked.

“The fact was unavoidable, Lucy and I were irrevocably tied together in this dark truth.”

The beginning of Hooked was a little slow, but once the action started, things really picked up and I didn’t want to put the book down. There were twists and turns that kept you guessing how everything would play out. These two characters were so original, and I adored them.

Lucy was a little wild, but that was more a coping mechanism than anything, she had a rough go at life and handled it the only way she knew how.

“She was half princess, half bombshell.”

X was charming in a reclusive awkward way, his quirks did nothing but endear him to me more. He was a man that dealt with a lot of anxiety because of the way he was raised and he didn’t know who he could trust and would seek solace within his own home.

“Normally, it would have caused me to retreat violently. Literally and figuratively lock her out of my life. Except with Lucy, she’d just pick the damn lock and barge right back in.”

These two are thrown together in the most unique way and they are forever a part of each others lives from that moment on. Dive into this story and see how they manage to get themselves in such a quandary and eventually get out of it… all while falling in love.

“And maybe that was what love was. The knowledge that you’d do anything to secure the other person’s happiness, even if it meant giving up everything, every part of your world, in exchange.”
